How To Coach Startup Founders & Leaders With Our Coaching Framework ("Sparring Sessions")

Welcome back to another video from the Zendog Labs team!

More than 35% of start-ups fail because they can’t grow, says CB Insights. You worked too hard to become a statistic. We are a team of ex-founders and ex-VCs that help you generate demand and unlock growth opportunities.

In this video, we go through our coaching framework. Coaching can be an effective tool to help founders and executives set priorities, learn from their wins and fuckups, discover unknown unknowns, and work through mental health issues. Yep, many founders and executives struggle with their mental health. That is because building products and companies are incredibly hard. Having a coach as a sparring partner can go a long way toward helping founders and executives get through the start-up roller coaster.

The central part of our framework is the primary agenda. It outlines a set of questions we suggest you go through at each of your coaching sessions. Our questions are somewhat biased toward helping start-up leaders prioritize their near-term work because founders and executives tend to have more ideas and priorities than they and their teams can handle. Too many priorities means stuff gets stuck and the entire system may come to a grinding halt.

While the primary agenda matters a great deal, you and your coachee will want to come prepared for all your calls. After your call, take 30 to 45 minutes to do a thorough debrief of your call and share it with your coachee. The debrief will be an invaluable resource for you to review before your next coaching session one week, two weeks, or even one month later.
